INTERIOR PLANNING & DESIGN

Ten Guiding Design Principles

Simplicity

It's all right to leave some empty space.

Timelessness

Will the design still be tasteful in five, ten, twenty years?

Spontaneity

Rooms are meant for living. Life is spontaneous.

Welcoming

A well-designed room does not intimidate.

Purpose

You should never question what to do when you enter a room.

Inspiration

The process should start with something the client cherishes – the “mother” accessory, fabric, piece of furniture, or art.

Lighting

Appropriate lighting (both natural and artificial) is the key to creating ambiance.

Hand Sketching

As opposed to computer rendering, hand sketching appeals to all senses. It allows you to “feel” a true sense of space.

Intuition

Add it to imagination and the result is a rational design process.

Service

From the first meeting to the last installation, I'm there as a design expert, patient listener, filterer of information, opinion-giver, expediter, intermediary with craftspeople, and collaborator with the client.
